Dear Neighbor,
I hope this message finds you well! It has been a very exciting, yet challenging first term on Akron City Council. I have been working hard, and have been energized and humbled by the opportunity to serve our community. I wanted to let you know that I will be running for re-election this year.
Our Ward is on the forefront of the future of the City of Akron. I have been focused on balancing the fight to keep the Goodyear Project moving forward and bringing new business into Ward 10, while fighting to do what is right in our community. I sponsored the resolution in City Council to "Buy American," urging the City to use our local businesses and our local workers on our local stimulus projects.
We all know that crime has increased in the City of Akron. I have been tirelessly working closely with the Akron Police Department to address our crime issues. I am continuing the process of holding Neighborhood Crime Watch meetings throughout the Ward with two goals: 1.) To inform all citizens about the impact of neighborhood watch groups, while giving information about personal and neighborhood safety, and 2.) Getting neighbors together to get to know each other better to rebuild sense of community. I have continued having monthly Ward meetings (every 2nd Tuesday of every month), where Akron Police Department Officers attend every meeting to address citizen questions and concerns. I have also gone on police ride-alongs on our streets to better understand our issues. I also sponsored legislation in City Council to donate $10,000 to Grandparents Against Sex Predators (G.A.S.P) to help keep our children safe in our neighborhoods.
I would be honored to continue to fight for and serve our great community and humbly ask for your support on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8. If you have any questions, please call my home at 330.798.0275 or e-mail me at kellircrawford@gmail.com.
Respectfully,
